Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in project management. Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Interpersonal and communication skills. Planning and organizational skills. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and TAMHSC guidelines.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Four yours of related experience in general office, accounting, or personnel operations. Demonstrated success managing an office. Experience in Project Management.Detail oriented, good inter-personnel skills, quick in problem solving, can work under pressure of deadlines, good writing and proof-reading skills, adept at mastering computer forms and programs, able to manage accounts.

Job Detail:

The Project Specialist, under general supervision, provides project management support to deliver projects within the established budget and time line. This position will be responsible for coordinating the research budgets and facilitating the research of the IRM by providing the services detailed below. Assists in the planning, developing, implementation, and evaluation of programs and projects. Assists in developing project budgets and preparing contracts. May manage budget for small projects or components of large programs under the direction of program director prepare budgets for granting agencies, developing projections for income and expenditures, monitoring of all expenditures and commitments, reporting on balances on all accounts, preparing reports for funding agencies, ensuring that all funds are expended in a manner consistent with the rules and regulations of both the granting agencies and TAMU-HSC-COM. Coordinates project activities, collaborates with project team members, assists in the development of measurable project goals and objectives, and monitors progress toward achievement. To also assist in the coordination, preparation and submission in a timely manner of scientific manuscripts for publication, grant applications, and reports on funded grant applications. The applicant will be primarily required to provide these services to the Director but, at his discretion, provide similar services to other faculty members and staff of the IRM. Assists in writing and disseminates work plans and project documents to include procedures, proposals, progress reports, and presentations. Supervise at least one staff member in the prompt purchase and delivery of equipment and supplies required for research in the IRM. Ensure that the IRM meets all the administrative requirements of TAMU and the College of Medicine with minimum delays in the research. Assist the Director in dealing with emergencies that may arise and that delay the research. Other duties as assigned.

Work Hours:

8-5 with the potential adjustments due to research projects.
