Required Education and Experience:

Licensed by the State of Texas as a Registered Nurse. Two years experience as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree. Three years in the above with college health nursing, public health, or emergency room experience. Direct patient care experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse, within the past two years.

Job Detail:

Research Nurse for the Office of Academic Affairs in the College of Nursing. This position supports Forensic Heath Care Research and assists the project investigators on a federally funded research grant. Assists with recruitment, consent and retention of study participants for an investigation of the effectiveness of alternate light technology on bruise detection. Conduct bruise assessments on study participants in accordance with Professional Nursing Standards. Work with team on data collection and maintaining database for Grant. Complete required training. Assist with recruitment, consent and retention of study participants. Maintain participant schedules. Screen study participants for eligibility. Obtain measurements of skin color and body fat composition. Conduct immediate post-bruise induction assessments. Conduct bruise assessments under normal room light and alternate light. Assist Drs. Sheridan and Downing with data collection and data entry. Maintain databases and study equipment. Other duties as assigned.

Work Hours:

Monday – Friday part time
Number of hours per week may vary depending on schedule. Assigned hours will be up to 20 hours per week. May need to work some evenings and weekends; may need to work starting 7:00am on some days. Temporary work through August 31, 2018
