Required Education and Experience:

Appropriate master’s degree or baccalaureate degree and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Three years of relevant experience. One year or greater experience as Research Asst in a BSL-2 laboratory. Applicant must have experience in Immunology and/or Molecular Biology techniques. Experience in specific immunological assays include Western blot and ELISA would be desirable. Must be willing to work with small animals (guinea pigs), specific training will be provided. Experience in Molecular Biology techniques (DNA and RNA extraction, cloning, conventional and realtime PCR) would also be an advantage. Preferred candidate will have the ability to work independently and as a team player with minimum supervision and be capable of planning an effective work day. Knowledge of BSL-2 safety procedures. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with laboratory animals.

Job Detail:

Directly involved in running day to day experiments and its analysis to support the main research focus of the laboratory including western blots, immunoprecipitation, ELISA, tissue culture (maintain cell line and growing up virus stocks), DNA cloning, PCR and DNA analysis. Provide support for related projects performed by the principal investigators, postdoctoral researchers and graduate students. Daily laboratory responsibilities include supply ordering, equipment maintenance, and following safety guidelines. Supervise student workers hired as dishwashers and media makers and bear responsibilities when students are not available. Maintain general cleanliness of the laboratory.
Research literature. Change CO2 gas tanks, stock shelves and dispose of waste containers. This position requires bending, lifting, reaching above shoulders and crouching.

Work Hours:

Monday through Friday 8 to 5, with occasional nights and weekends
